New at Collectors Weekly: Upcoming Events

One of the best things about being a collector is the opportunity to learn more about your stuff, as well as, of course, to add to your collection. Sure you can do both online, but nothing replaces the excitement of being in a room full of vintage model trains, rare postage stamps, or antique bottles, along with lots of like-minded individuals.

That’s why we’ve launched a new feature called Upcoming Events. As of this writing, we’ve seeded several dozen family and hundreds of category pages with events from across the United States. Some may be familiar (comic-book fans know that Comic-Con International is a great excuse to visit San Diego in the summer), while others are probably deserving of a wider audience (if you are in Athens, Ohio between the end of May and the beginning of September, don’t miss “Quilting Traditions: The Art of the Amish” at the Dairy Barn Art Center).

We got the ball rolling but this feature has been created for you, which is why we’ve made it easy for anyone to post their organization’s event. Simply look for the “Post your event” link below the “Upcoming Events” heading in the middle of many of our pages, fill out the “Add an Event” form, and click the “Post Event” button at the bottom of the page. You can post a link to your group’s show, exhibition, lecture, seminar, or sale. At some point down the line we may offer event organizers the option to purchase an enhanced listing, but most postings will remain free.

Please check out our FAQ page on this new feature, give it a try, and then let us know what you think. Thanks!
