Founded in Baccarat, France, in 1765, this glassworks became known for its ornate mid-19th century glass paperweights, and for perfecting the art of sulphide glass making. The company has produced every sort of glassware, but is famous for its paperweights, tableware, and decanters. In the 20th century, Baccarat collaborated with manufacturers of other products to make ornate packaging bottles and boxes.
