About Vintage Bicycles

Though people had been building and riding bicycles since the mid-1800s, in the 1880s and 90s a burst of innovation (chain drives, pnuematic tires, rear freewheels, coaster brakes) ushered in a 'Golden Age' of bicycles. That is, until the banana seat models came along in the late 1900s! Collectors seek out bicycles and bike accesories (e.g. head badges) of many vintages, styles and brands. And sometimes even ride them...
