What are you looking for?
Until the mid 1800’s, Christmas trees were mainly decorated with homemade ornaments or items like fruit and nuts. Then German entrepeneurs began producing decorative glass ornaments, and in the 1880s F.W. Woolworth imported these into the U.S., triggering the American love affair with ornaments. Today collectors prize ornaments from a variety of eras, made of materials ranging from crystal to silver to pewter to plastic.
Christmas antiques and collectibles abound, ranging from hand-crafted folk items to modern limited-edition works. Whether thematic (Santa, nutcrackers, reindeer, elves) or functional (trees, ornaments, lights, bells, records), they usually evoke the warmth and cheer of holidays celebrated the old-fashioned way.
