Invented in the 1790s by clock maker Simon Willard, banjo clocks are a truly American clock style. Characterized by their round face, with a hanging pendulum box that resembles a shape of the banjo, these clocks lacked a striking mechanism, making the face the only time indicator. Willard, with his brother Aaron, produced several thousand banjo clocks. Despite Willard's patent, the design was continuously copied by other clock companies.
People have been collecting clocks for centuries, and there’s a lot to learn.
