About Vintage Porcelain Insulators

Porcelain insulators took over from glass insulators later in the 20th century, but manufacturers produced them in a variety of colors to try to duplicate the look of traditional colored glass insulators. The colors were used for color coding, to distinguish different types of wires on the pole.
