The Victorian style, encompassing all things elegant, shiny, and frivolous, was popular between the 1840s and the early 1900s. Victorian lighting ranged from ornate candelabras to oil lamps to early electric lamps. Among other things, Victorian era lamps are known for floral imagery, and for ornate lampshades with hanging tassels.
There are a wide variety of collectible lamps, from big names like Tiffany and Handel to styles like slag glass, aladdin and Victorian. Values vary greatly, and reproductions abound, so be careful and do your homework.
