About Cast Iron Model Cars

Cast iron toys were popular from the late 1800s through the start of WW2, and saw their heyday in the 1920's. Because iron tended to rust, those that have survived in the best condition are typically those that were nickel-plated, a common technique manufacturers used to promote longevity.
