About Diecast Model Cars

Diecast toys and cars first appeared in the early 1900s, but the metal compounds used tended to crack and crumble, so pre-WW2 examples are hard to find. Big players like Lesney (Matchbox) and Hot Wheels came on the scene after the war. Because diecast cars are painted, those that have been played with are generally worth less than those still preserved in their original packages.
