Founded by Victor Hugo Emerson in 1915, the Emerson Phonograph Company manufactured records and low cost external horn phonographs. In 1924 it was renamed the Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corp., and produced the tiny eight by six inch ‘Peewee’ radio that sold hundreds of thousands of units. After WW2, Emerson introduced one of the first successful consumer televisions.
