About Vintage Skateboards

Skateboards first hit the mass market in the 1960s (alongside surfing), having evolved from previous decades of scooter and skating innovation (and perhaps wooden planks on roller skate wheels). Early boards were constructed of solid wood or plastic, with wheels made of composite or steel. The 'deck' is one key to skateboard collectibility, with rare or unique designs commanding top dollar.
