Henry Ford built his first gas-powered tractor in 1907, and created a separate company, Ford and Son, to manufacture it. Ford's first mass-produced tractor, The Fordson, rolled off the assembly line in 1917 and became popular across the country, as well as in England, where it was used during WW1. Ford continued to produce many models of tractors and motorized farm equipment until the 1990s.
John Deere is the big name in American antique tractors, but collectors also seek out tractors made by Ford, Farmall, Massey Ferguson, International Harvester, McCormick, and others (in 1902 McCormick Harvesting Machine Company merged with Deering Harvester Company to become International Harvester). Some collectors also specialize in lawn and garden tractors.
