Other information:
The 34th Annual Convention will be here before we know it. Each January we look ahead to the planned events and to some of the changes. We are fortunate this year to obtain the Bellaire High School Cafeteria as a place to hold some of our events.
As usual, the Convention begins with our Ice Cream Social, which is always held at the Museum. On Thursday, June 10, the Museum Open House will run from 5:30-8:30 pm, with the sign-in and pick-up of registration materials taking place from 5:30-8:00 pm. Like last year, the Ice Cream Social will be held inside the Museum from 6:00-8:00 pm. The “Big I” Study Group will serve as our host.
Events for Friday, June 11:
Activities scheduled for Friday will take place in the function rooms of Undo’s West that adjoin the Hampton Inn. The Auction Consignment Drop-Off will be held from 8:00-11:00 am. The Museum will be open from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. The “Bring & Brag” Session will start at 10:45 am. Two seminars are scheduled for Friday afternoon. Jim Robertson and Matt McNutt will speak about rare and not- so-rare Candlewick, and Bill Blon will talk to us on mixing glass and colors. A Registration & Membership table will be available twice during the day (10:00-10:45 am and 5:00-6:30 pm. With the two major changes in the Convention Auction Procedure (see below), we expect we will be having more people than before consigning glass and attending the auction starting at 6:30 pm.
Events for Saturday, June 12:
Major changes have taken place in the Saturday lineup of events, for the Glass Show, Former Employee Q&A Session, Museum Sales Table, and the General Membership Meeting and Election will be held this year in the Bellaire High School Cafeteria. This change allows us to have more room and a nice facility for the sale. Single tables will be available for rent for the show. This is a new day for the General Membership Meeting. The Museum is once again open from 11:00 am -3:00 pm. The Banquet will conclude the Convention Activities.
Notice of Changes to Convention Auction Policy:
This year, it has been decided to open the auction to the public. The NIGCS member, who is not registered for the convention, will still pay $5 for an auction bid card. A non –NIGCS person wishing to attend the auction, will pay $10 for an auction bid card. It was also decided to allow items in the auction to have a reserve price. No mail-in items will be allowed a reserve. If the reserved item does not sell, NIGCS will charge 20% of the reserve price for the seller to reclaim the item. More details will be forthcoming.
This event is a club or hobbyist event and expects 21-100 people.
Note: Please confirm event details with the organizer before traveling long distances to attend this event.
