Index of American Design

The Index of American Design project (1935-1942) was an effort to catalog American decorative arts objects from the 1800's. This site provides a sampling of the project's 18,000 watercolor renderings of items like quilts, toys, weather vanes, wooden shoes, signs, stoneware, armchairs, and more.
