About Antique Waterman Pens

Founded in 1883 by Lewis Waterman, whose innovations helped develop the first reliable fountain pens, the L.E. Waterman Pen Company took off immediately. By the time he died in 1901 the company claimed to be selling 1000 pens a day. The company foundered in the late 1920s, however, and closed its doors after WW2. A French subsidiary absorbed the American remnants and still produces pens and ink under the Waterman name today.
