Records were released in boxed sets for a number of reasons, most commonly as a retrospective of a band's or artist's work on a certain label, or across their career. Some of the most collectible boxed vinyl record sets are those from The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, and Miles Davis. Other boxed sets were made for long, multi-disk albums, classical symphonies, and special multi-album releases.
