I tried to find some information on this Sleek Mottled-Pink Glaze PANTHER VASE and it was to no avail. Other than for the number 3 under-base, it is completely unmarked. I have not been able to find another example anywhere in my books or online. It measures 18 1/2" long by 6" wide (back legs) and 7 1/2" tall and has an elegant/proud look to it. Anyone recognize it or the maker? Thanks, BOB

Many of these were given away as carnival prizes, in the 30s and 40s. Many were made but I'm not sure how many have survived.

Thank you Savoychina1 !Sure is the same "Relaxed-Cat" as my panther. Do you think that GONDER could have made a Jardiniere in a similar but different mold....the base is different. BOB

The bases suggest two different potteries. Your cat has a "dry" foot so it can sit flat while being fired. The Gonder has three points where it sat on stilts so the glaze would cure on the bottom.

Did Gonder use this mottled Pink glaze for their wares? BOB

does look like possibly the Gonder #237, which is the larger size of 18-1/2"; but in the form of a planter. Could it be that the "3" you see is part of the #237. The color looks like it may be Red Flambe, which seems to vary a bit from what is at this collectors site:

Hi Tallcakes! That certainly is it....maybe mine was more of a pink flambe. Thanks for your input. Did you have a chance to look at the green patterned vase that I uploaded a few weeks ago? I got a lot of loves but no one seems to know much about it. RER(BOB)

you're welcome Bob; I'll try to take a look at that vase to see if it is something I might recognize. : )
