"The Red Barrel is a monthly publication issued by the Coca-Cola Company to develop and promote a higher coordination of all the forces which make "Coca-Cola" an institution."

So it states on the Table of Contents page of this Sept. 1944 issue, which I purchased BIN for $20. Condition seems good and it included an original, unaddressed mailing envelope. I thought I should have one to display near my Coca-Cola syrup red barrel.

As I am employed by a manufacturer of single-use foodservice products, I was pleased to see an article on the possible uses of a then relatively new and plentiful material stream: Plastics

Some 70 years later we are working hard to recycle and find alternatives to plastics, which are mostly derived from crude oil processing. Current best alternative? Paper of course.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

LOL, Very true Dave. Looks to be in great condition too. I'm more impressed that you actually have pretzels in your Coca Cola pretzel bowl!

kerry, I'm learning too, everyday, and that's a lot of the fun of collecting (along with sharing experiences with other collectors).

thanks Perry. Some of these issues can go for big bucks. I think mine's pretty common. And, boy, do I eat a lot of pretzels! ;0)

Nice addition or edition or both...... I also like the idea of the photo for the unseen end of the barrel, pretty clever there !!!

thanks Tom. The writing on the under side of that barrel is so cool, I didn't want to lose that aspect. I appreciate the kind words and your stopping by. Have a good week my friend.

Saw that for sale. Almost bid against you. Have been thinking about getting into collecting them again. When I created the Red Barrel segment in my Price Guide, It was all I could do to keep from getting on ebay and buying them all!
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Blaine. I needed just one, so glad we didn't have to go mano a mano. I see is now listed on CW's Coca-Cola main page under "Other Great Reference Sites". Cream rises to the top!
