The images shown are of two Balinese paintings from the Ubud, a region of Indonesia. The paintings are great examples of Indonesia's traditional wayang narratives were moral tales or told of the exploits of the Gods. Paintings as such are widespread in Indonesia as an accompaniment to other art forms.

Balinese painting was turned around in the 1930s by Western artists such as Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet who came to live and work on Bali. They encouraged painting as an art formand and Balinese artists started to depict scenes from everyday life rather than regilious narratives.
