A neat Civil War Colonel John Mosby photo I'm not sure how old it is probably not period but old, he was famous for waking General Edward H. Stoughton from his bed by slapping his rear upon capture in 1863 , known for prolonging the life of the Confederacy. Terrorized North Virginia organized the Partisan Rangers.

      Mosby was a great cavalier!

Your image appears to be a modern copy image. Some additional photos of it out of the frame (front and back) should confirm.

Unfortunately someone glued the photo to the paper along with the typed information , I'm sure the photo is not of the period ,maybe a 40s or 50s copy , pretty neat though!

Yes, the format, size and appearance is way off for it to be of the period albumen print.

Here is a posting of an authentic era CDV for comparision:

I've never owned this particular view of Mosby, but have had a bust shot before. His war era image is very desirable.

I think it more appropriate to say, "He terrorized the non-indigenous yankee pests that had illegally invaded Virginia". Wouldn't I make a great historian! LOL

I don't think he was particularly kind to the indigenous unionist pests in Western Virginia and Maryland either, Blunder ;)

I gotta say it, Love them boots!

The saber is probably just a prop as he & his men didn't like them & chose multiple braces of pistols. Understandable as any type of sword is incredibly noisy.
