I found this photo quite a while ago, but just recently found out what it was: I got it for it's Deco look. (Fron the 1939 Worlds Fair Site, http://www.1939nyworldsfair.com/worlds_fair/wf_tour/statues/riders_of_elements.htm). Located in the Court of Ships in the Transportation zone this sculpture represented the elements: Air, Earth, and Water. The planes, cars and other decorative features add to the sensations of speed inherent in the composition. This statue was originally listed as "Carriers of Speed" on this site but changed to "Riders of the Elements" based on information from the New York Public Library Archives. Thanks to my Brother and Sister- in- law Greg and Suzanne for the research!

Thanks, PhilDavidAlexanderMorris. I'm not sure what it's made of. I hope it was not torn down! Thanks for all the loves, too!

A magnificent sculpture and historic photograph.

The sculptor was Chester Beach (American, 1881-1956). According to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, "Beach designed coins and created sculptures in bronze and marble."
