Bought this vase in the early 1990s in British Columbia, Canada. The seller thought the potter was originally from the Seattle, Wa. area. Have searched for Bill Ferg (name hand impressed on the underside), and William Ferg, but have not found any info. I am guessing the vase was created between 1940 and 1970 give the colors and type of glaze which was used between those 2 periods. Another name which might be is Bill Fery (there are a coupe light lines which could make the last name Fery), but again no luck. Measures 10" x 8 1/4" at the back peaks, 9" at center front. Given the vase slants outward at the top makes the base smaller at 5" x 4". Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They look a lot like BMP (BLUE MOUNTAIN POTTERY) products made near Toronto, Canada but most of their wares were clearly marked. I don't know who Bill Ferg is. RER (BOB)

Thank you all for the love.

Bob, I have a few pieces of Canadian pottery including some Blue Mountain. Had a friend in Halifax who could not stand the stuff. Anytime it would come in households he bought he priced it really low, he simply didn't like BMP.
I have found William Ferguson, but he and the other Fergusons I have found are all part of the Georgia pottery. In seaching for Bill Ferg found there has been a bonus of finding a book by the title Brothers in Clay. What little I have read is simply fascinating, if you like history, epecially if you are into southern pottery.
Anyway.. I appreciate the comment.. Still hoping and fingers crossed someone will recognise the glaze which is a dark olive base. Doesn't seem to show very well in the pics.

      Thanks aldo, Sean..

Phil.. not a fan of the vase or BMP huh.. oh well, can't win 'em all. Have a nice day, and beware of discount stores selling pottery :)
