While biking home saturday night I came across these old classroom-style plastic chairs sitting on the sidewalk for free! I realize they're not Eames/Herman Miller designed, but they're very much a knock-off version. (see the original styles here - http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/seating/multi-use-guest-chairs/eames-molded-plastic-chairs.html)

They're a beige molded plastic seat attached to metal legs. They're not in tip-top condition: I had to remove a bit of duct tape from the legs, buy some new leg tip covers, and scrub a lot of gunk from the plastic, but they look perfect on our little tropical Californian porch.

Here's a near exact match from eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mid-Century-Molded-Plastic-Dining-Side-Accent-Chair-Wire-Base-BOGO-Free-/370896596828

BUT mine do not have the inscription that says "1010, Alladin, IL, Made in USA" - in fact I could find nothing on the underside to indicate who made them.

Does anyone know when/where these chairs may have been produced?

Sweet! Love curb pickings. How did you manage with two chairs and a bike?

AmberRose... For these I would leave the bike behind and walk home with them :)

These are awesome. I have a black one and a green one. Mine have no markings either. :/

as far as I can tell they were made in a few places for distribution to big businesses, schools, hospitals, etc. in the 60s and 70s. Classy design though, and can't complain about the price. :)

A little elbow grease goes a long way ~ well worth the effort! [;>)

Yeah, I ended up buying black spray paint (made for plastic furniture) that sealed them up nicely so I could use indoors and cover the rust.
