I used to use this cooper Telephone from about 1983 to possibly 2003, not sure who made it. I guess I got tired of it because I believe it has been in a box under my kitchen sink for many years now.

Added the 2nd photo, you can see the cooper telephone and I used to have an answering machine under it. The chairs are by Norman Bel Geddes.

A copper phone must have been how you called the cops.....I think calling 911 replaced it. :) Nice looking and thanks for sharing it with us.

  8. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
oh yeah Gargoyle, I found out it is made by cooper.
  9. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
Thanks Tom, I had heard that they were used as a type of switchboard phone in a hotel. Not sure how accurate that statement ever was.

  19. walksoftly walksoftly, 1 year ago
    WOW, that is so cool!
How old is it & how did you acquire it?
I'm not even going ask why it's under the kitchen sink, if I was you I would set a Gargoyle trap. I'm not sure what size of trap you would need to catch one of those!lol
  20. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
Thanks David, I think I need a hex or voodoo doll for a gargoyle. I don't know how old it is, I bought it at Toronto's harbourfront antique market I believe in 1984. It seems I don't know much. Tom says " Nice Stromberg-Carlson copper desk set, not a common telephone. "

  29. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
Yes, walksoftly it does go better I guess than a modern phone with my decor there. I don't have a phone in the kitchen or living room now.

like the new pic of you ...;-) And love the phone,.... is it wired for your house ..so you can use it ...?
  31. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
Hi, the phone had around 4-6 wires I think when I got it -- I just bought a wall plug adapter from Radio Shack at the time and it was operational.

Okay, I used to have an old phone that I used too. Not even close to this cool. I stopped using it as it was so dang heavy. I was getting neck pain...and I'm not a big chit chatter!

Was this a business phone for multiple lines?
  38. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
That is what I was told, said something about a hotel use, but that is all I heard. There were apparently the other copper phones that were used in the rooms also, they had smooth copper bottoms, no buttons, and the dealer had some of those.

Phil, There is one of these phones on Ebay right now. Doesn't look as good as yours.
The seller states " Heavy, Ugly, Rotary Dial Phone"
  45. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
There is one nice one I see which is described as beautiful antique, the seller does not use the words you have in quotation. Cannot find that one.

Great copper phone - and the last 2 pix are very fun. I bet your under-sink storage is not as scary as mine. I learned to use the oven for storage when my college friend Kevin stole my 1930's blue jean jkt and hid it there. Eventually....I got it back later - it wasn't in the oven. I stole it back and he never knew.

Thank you Tom for the link. I see that very dirty phone went dirt cheap. Fitting end I guess !~ They certainly have lost a lot of value over the years, things selling cheap so one can probably afford the postage of buying over the internet !

I think I'm getting older Emails back in don't ask me how to hard for the brain to work at the moment or maybe it's because I'm also trying to give up smokes. The first time I have ever wanted to. Ecigs is what I'm using seems to be doing okay only early stages
  59. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, 1 year ago
Good to hear you are trying to break the habit, good luck with the e-cigs.

I can only try didn't even tell my partner for a few months while I was thinking about it otherwise he would have gone on & on about it then I would of changed my mind. As it was as soon as I told him it started but had gone to far in the mind to give in to easy & he wanted to start for the new year I said by them I just may not want to & let me do it my way. He is joining me in doing it with Ecigs but I have to know every puff he has. He really is a dear
