This toilet was made by The Philip Haas Co. Est. 1896. The last year this toilet was used was 1963. It sat in the warehouse until 2006 when I received it. Back in the day this is the kind of toilets they used in cold warehouses, when there was no electric. The water was under ground and when you pulled down the seat the tank would fill up when done the seat would come up and flush. I would like to find out more information and how old, and if it is rare. This toilet really looks good in my man cave. Thanks Rip

There is some patent info on E-Bay for sale, from Mr. Haas....it seems he was an inventor, the flushing mechanism seems to be the unique piece on this and I don't know but you may have one of very few ever made.... they didn't seem to catchon due to smell problems......
Philip Haas was my great grand father. He was quite the inventor of plumbing. I believe he had about 12 patents in plumbing. He came over from germany when he was about 12 and lived the rest of his life in Dayton Oh. His toilets were in alot of the schools in dayton. I have pics if you would like any!
Hey Jill
Yes I would love to have some pics. And is there anyway you could give some information on it and what year this toilet was made? I think this is a very nice piece. You just don't see antiques like this to often. Thanks Jack
I am the Great Grandson of Philip Haas I have some catalogs which shows the different Toilets and flushing mechanism. I am interested in trying to get my Great Grandfather into the Inventor Hall of Fame in Akron Ohio Bob Dupont Elyria Ohio
I have a give-away from the Philip Haas Co. It is an aluminum cigar holder. It has a toilet embossed on the front. On the back it says, "Philip Haas Co. Dayton, Ohio. Manufacturers of "HAAS" Frost Proof Water Closets "HAAS" Hydrometers etc. etc." Very cool piece.
Searched online and found a catalog from 1911 that discussed the toilets, and a 1914 book that talks about the company and has a picture of Mr. Haas.
Could you call me 4402230156
