Hello everyone, I did well with a lot of vintage designer bags recently. The lot had a Cole Haan, Judith Leiber, a Roger Vivier among others. This is the strangest handbag I have ever seen. It is only 6 inches long. The soft inside comes out, and I think it to be made by CAREY ADINA? Can anyone help me ID this type of bag? It is a very hard plastic, but I knew it was not junk.

When a woman fills her purse, it becomes a Proustian microcosm of her world, says Carey Adina Karmel, a handbag designer who started her company, Carey Adina, in 1986. "I think women love handbags and shoes more than anything else they wear," said Ms. Karmel, whose bags are sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Sak's Fifth Avenue and Martha International.

An English literature major at Harvard, Ms. Karmel planned to be a journalist. But her first job, as a clerk for the business section of The New York Times taught her that business could be exciting. And as a reporter at American Lawyer, her second job, she discovered it was almost impossible to find a handbag that was both attractive and practical. "I didn't want my pumps mixing with my lunch," she said.

A year of study at the University of Florence gave her an appreciation for craftsmanship and fine leathers. So Ms. Karmel quit journalism, enrolled in design classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology and apprenticed at a SoHo handbag factory for a year.
The ideal handbag is nicely designed, well made and functional, said Ms. Karmel, who is 33 years old and whose purses range from bright orange Kelly bags to whimsical evening bags shaped like top hats. Her leather day bags in crisp geometric shapes have automatic spring locks, which instantly snap shut. And her satin evening bags often have mirrors under their flip tops. Ms. Karmel's latest endeavor is a line of customized handbags, priced $300 to $650.

hmmmmmm.....interesting doc. Can you find one similar to this, do you think this is plastic? I looks like it was some sort of.....I have no idea....some sort of something. If you look at the part under the light, you can see the texture looks like hand blown glass does. I mean, would someone use this? Isn't it.....like inconvenient?

Would you be interested in seeing some of the other ones in the auction? I happen to really like the one made by Tasha Polizzi.
