Unfortunately, I do not know very much about the flag.

If I remember correctly, my mother said she acquired the flag when we were stationed overseas between 1960 & 1975.

It is in the same condition as it is in today; faded and tattered on the edges. The flag is approximately 22" x 18". The flag is originally a dark blue (as seen at the top of the picture of the full flag) and the white and red lifesaver is 3 dimensional. The gentleman in the picture is not a relative and we do not know who he is.

I do not think you were intending to correct me, but...You are right, I guess it would be a life preserver and NOT a "lifesaver", oops. Hahahaha :)

Sorry for the slight ,Only remarking on unusual make-up of flag , I think life-saver is a correct description also . Jack P.S. I was thinking that perhaps a troop ship might have been part of this soldier's service . Not a small thing to have traveled in in time of war !
