This is an old paperweight from the estate of a 92 year old friend. It's possibly french, since her dad was from France and she had a number of other french items. I can't find any markings on it. Any ideas what kind it is? It measures about 2 inches high and has a 1.5 inch base. Thank You!

Looks a bit Chinese to me

it is an unusual weight in that the pattern does not fill the whole weight .look underneath and if it is not ground flat and has a dip in the centre and you can see where the glass rod(pontil mark)has been broken off it will be an old piece.if it is old it may have been made by H.G Richardson ltd in the Stourbridge area they were working from early 19th cent . the colours make me think it maybe one of their weights. the giverway sign that it is chinese will be a flat base.

A few too many enclosed bubbles to be from a quality manufacturer. I second Stillwater's comment - screams Chinese to me too.

Seems like those bubbles around the canes are always on the Chinese ones

Have a look at http://www.pwts.co.uk. They have great information and a lot of paperweights dokumented. With bubbles or not I still think it's nice.

On the first page of http://www.pwts.co.uk you scroll down and in the text you see links to info on chinese ones. I have a pre 1940's that I love.
