Cotti Lorango is a national an internationally known artist for his works.
We had the pleasure of meeting him here and getting to know him. We talked about his life and where he had been. He had personal friends like Josephine Baker and Orson Welles and was retained by them to travel with them and do their portraits. His niece is married to Sly Stone ( for those who remember the Family Stone). He has many accomplishments such as set decorations to ballet in the international setting. Thought you might enjoy seeing one of his works.

I personally know Cotti and he is a wonderful artist. He is living in Oklahoma and still gives aspiring artist, including myself, lessons in the old Dutch style oil painting. He painted me a clown, that he said is what he used to paint and sell when he was first starting out. I have seen some of his current work and he is as great as ever.

Hi thanks for your comments!! Cotti lives not to far from us. He has been over several times for cook outs. He has enlightened us with many of his stories about his travels that we enjoyed very much. My wife took lessons from him for about a year
and loved it. I case you didn't see them, I have two more painted by him listed on collectors/ We could not pass them up! Thanks for your comments. Enjoy the pieces.

The next time you see Cotti, please tell him Hi from Jeff. I had a photography studio, and I worked with him when he lived in Tempe. He painted my daughter for me.

I was looking up Uncle Cotti's paintings and came across this one, and the two others you have here.

Yes, I said 'Uncle' because he was my uncle. Honestly not by blood, but I came into the family when I was 18. Cotti's full name was Marcos Cotti Lorango Jr, if anyone wants to know. What a fabulous man. Soon after he saw the painting I did of Jimi Hendrix, he offered to teach me to paint. (My Hendrix painting was stolen & never recovered). Of course, I was so young and did not have the confidence in my ability to paint, so I just didn't take him up on his generous offer. Yes, I have wanted to kick myself many a times over that.

Cotti was such a wonderful man in every way! Always so much fun, eccentric and so kind. And besides the fact that he had many famous friends, he too was famous yet never judged you by status or money. And it's true that his niece Kathy was married to Sly, they had one son together and he's happily married and also in a band.

In fact, Cotti had many nieces and nephews, I was fortunate that he considered me family as well.

He is sorely missed by many, RIP Uncle Cotti!!!
