Hi Lavender, the cross in circle on the lid and the top of the urn is the 'mon' or crest of the Satsuma clan. I can't make out the mark on the bottom except for 'Made In'. It may or may not be actual Satsuma ware, but at least would be considered Satsuma style. The lady on the front is Kannon (Quan Yin in Chinese), the goddess of mercy and a very popular figure in Asian art. The figure on the back is a rakan or arhat, a holy man. You can Google these terms for more research. Best wishes, Jim

Hi, it's not a mark from the 50+ kilns which produced Satsuma. It's very likely mid to late 20th century. If you go back to Gotheborg (use your other posting) and scroll down to the following marks, you will find many with your theme and the Satsuma mon, which are not Satsuma. Nichi Hon 723, SPP 606, Suzuki 984,
TMK 588 (but the writeup is incorrect), Yago 907. Hope this helps, Jim
