    Informally, I'm going to call this Poschingers line of Phenomen Genre as it most closely resembles some of the best made by Loetz. Its a well documented form by designer Karl Schmoll van Eisenwerth and it was at one time fully signed but now only the number, 603 remains partially visible.

    The vase appears to be made of several layers of glass which were furnace decorated with numerous pulls and gathers. What appears to be a middle layer of opal glass makes brief appearances in the decoration. The neck and rim have a additional random pulled and feathering decoration.

    I think its a pretty amazing vase and it gave me a new appreciation for the creations of the Poschinger Glasshouse.

    It stands 8.75" tall.
    There is no German section under Art Glass so the item was placed here.

      Das Bohmische Glas band V is full of Poschinger signatures but I am afraid that on this vase, there just isn't enough left to go on.

      Is there a generic term for the furnace decorating? e.g. favrile, aurene, favrene

      As a collector of Poschinger Art Nouveau glass, I can really appreciate this piece. Not a lot of their furnace decorated work shows up, seems to be much less produced then other makers of the same time period. Nice find!

      BTW - What camera are you using?

      Thank you everyone. A Sony a99 with vintage manual focus Minolta lens was used.

      I have a Sony ?100 with the kit lens. I bet the quality of glass photos would pop with a good prime lens.

      Typically the lens is more important than the camera body... Not to say it doesn't help. Especially if its full frame.

      Wonderful! This form must have been particularly popular for the firm because I've seen three separate examples in different decors within the past week (two here and one on German eBay). I agree wholeheartedly about Poschinger quality.
