I was debating for some time whether or not I should post this item. At the end, as you can see, I decided to go ahead.
This piece was purchased by my grandmother during the Great Depression.
The story is that during the Great Depression, times were obviously really hard for the majority of people. Like in many countries, unemployment was high, and many families were struggling to survive.
My grandmother was having a hard time, too, but because my grandfather was working for the post office, he was lucky to keep his job. Many others were not so fortunate and for survival, as well as to keep their sanity during the long times of unemployment, they started to produce anything they could with what they had available.
This little key rack is one of those items made by those desperate men. It is a partially hand-carved piece of wood with two birds and a nest and the words "We bring good luck (or good fortune)." My grandmother didn't need it but bought it anyway to support the unemployed man who made it.
This piece has no monetary value, but whenever I look at it, I appreciate what I have.

    Thanks for looking:)

A beautiful piece of historic folk art...even not considering its value to the family, t def holds monetary value. There is nothing like folk art with the history that created it...Im glad to see this posted!
