I need some help on this one. This item is about 12 inches long and made from wood. There are three pieces of wood that are carved loosely on the handle so they can move up and down when shaken. My guess is Native American. I know it dates back to at least the 1950's.
Thoughts?

I'm no expert, but can tell you that this positively, was not made by native Americans. Parts are turned on a lathe, which have been probably at least a few thousand years, but not in the hands of Indians. Beautiful piece & await somebody who can shed light on this.
Okay, my second guess is African. Lol
My bet would be on looking further north. Maybe Tibet or around that area. Here again. I'm guessing with limited knowledge, just like you. Think you found the right site for help. Just doesn't have that African look to me.

My third guess is it is an attitude adjuster. We need to get knocked in the head with this. Lol
It's a chocolate stir for making Mexican hot chocolate, but this one might be for decoration purposes. Nice piece! =)

I have one also. I thought it was really neat looking. I was told it is a bakers chocolate 'drizzle' from Mexico (close to me in San Diego). I believe the person who told me about this was 'guessing' so tom61375 maybe on the right track. Nice!
