    This is an old Chesterman measuring tape I found in the shed when I was cleaning up. The tape is a reinforced fabric. The case might be bakelite but I'm not an expert on these things, it has a mottley brown pattern on it. One side is in inches & feet, the other side (I think) is a measurement called a link (aprox 20cm) an imperial length unit. Once used in surveying land.
    Perhaps someone might know when these type were produced?
