Here is a vintage Gruen 14k Rosegold women's watch. It is very petite and still runs like a charm. It is dated around the 1940s.

Can you tell me what is stamped inside the back of the watch? It will help both date your watch and find out more detailed information such as the model name.

Off the top of my head, I believe your watch is a bit older than the 1940's. I am thinking 1930's from that gorgeous dial.

      The number is 138074

Are there other numbers. I'm looking for a pair of 3-digit numbers like a 210-xxx or 210/xxx, or just a single 3 digit number. The maker of the case may be useful too. If you can write down everything in the back of the case that would be best so that I don't have to come back to you several times.

Ah, now I see the problem with Style Numbers. I forgot to mention that solid gold (14K) Gruens often don't have a Style Number in the back. I'm sorry about the confusion. OK, have to skip trying to sue Style Numbers to get what I call the "Foundation Date". This is the approximate date the watch was made.

By the way, for me, my goal is to find the model name of the watch and the year it was made (released to the public for sale).

I'll need a little time, I have other things I must work on, and then I can come back. If you wish to read more about the techniques I am using, you can read about them on the GruenWristwatches site on the "How to ID your Gruen" page.
skip that step, moving on to the next step in my progression that I use for IDs.

Back soon to pick up where I left off or where someone else has carried the ball to.

      Good mystery.
