Havana Cigar Smoke Digester

Anyone wish to let me know something about this. The cutter portion was patented May 19, 1891 and on the stem to turn the wick higher is another patent application date with what looks like M.B.OO.N.Y It does not appear to have been used in quite a while. There is a wick but I know enough not to mess with anything on it so this is the condition I received it in. Has ERIE SPECIALTY CO> and the patent date on the base as seen in the pics.
I cannot find another that looks like it and I've looked everywhere I know to on the Net. I got no clue and I do not smoke so any information would be nice, thanks
