    Hello Friends,
I picked this up a couple of days ago.
I went to a shop to photograph something that they had asked me to sell for them on ebay . While we were talking I spied this on a shelf in the window. It was all that I could focus on and I couldn't wait to get it in my hands.
Boy! is it cool or what? With all of it's wonderful features it's amazing that there's just a wee bit of damage, ( repaired ), and no missing pieces.
Do you suppose the subject is Japanese, or Chinese?
It screams Italian to me,.......should I trust my gut on that feeling?
Also, any information about it at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You, Good Night,
    and happy day
    Tony.

He's awesome Tony, almost looks more like a pirate than a Samurai. His buckle shoes look more European than Chinese or Japanese. I think you're on the right track.

this is an amazing piece..but do remember that China borders on parts of eastern Europe so during their trade visits they would have seen these shoes and maybe even they were worn as far east as China...its just too detailed in ceremonial dress and the aspects for it to be anything else but Asian or maybe Mongolian?

For all I know its probably from Stoke On Trent...a brilliant item...

      Hello Anne,
Thanks for the interesting comment. I've begun thinking differently about it.
I have him standing near the telephone on a red Asian chest,( with lots of other things:), I look at and admire him all the time. Thanks for giving him a look.
      Happy Sunday,
      Tony
