18 1/2" long with handle extended.
Bottom section spins when handle is pushed in
Looks like some thing is held in the end like a drill bit or the like.
No markings other than a "oil" and an arrow pointing to the spiral as it enters the body of the tool
An old, wire twister? What shape is the bottom piece that spins?
This is obviously used for twisting something like bailing wire. We use something similar for safety-wiring things on aircraft
A tool used when cleaning paint brushes. After cleaning brush in solvent or water, based on oil based or water based paint, you would put the handle of the brush in the spring end, and it would spin the brush dry.

What a "ting" Dave. I just throw away the brushes for oil-based as the solvent for cleaning is as much as the brush. Times change things!
BB2, I have expensive high quality paint brushes I have had for years, and if properly cared for will last a long time.
In the first photo, notice the different paint color splatters on the upper tube.

Thanks Dave , I went and got a paint brush and soaked it in water and sure enough it spun it dry after several good spins.
Now I will try and date it somehow.
Holtzapple, I've had mine for 25-30 years and they can still be purchased today.

Dave, I've sure never seen one & people have had to drag me out of h'ware stores because I couldn't figure out what "something" was for. LOL & love it!
Thanks again for the info. Apparently they came with a paper like label and no company markings anyware on it.
