I'm not exactly sure what this is. Someone suggested it was some kind of mourning box to keep things that belonged to a deceased relative in. It's appx. 9.5l x 4.5w x 3.4h inches, all marble with velvet lined drawers. There's a paper decoration on the drawer ends and inside the box
The story is that my wife's great....uncle used to sell insurance and they would give him things if they couldn't make their premium payments. I guess they bartered a lot back then. Have no idea of age.
