    Hello -

I have to admit that because my Grandfather was such an older man when I was starting to walk & talk, I don't have much information on this watch. I only know that he obtained it somehow through his tour of duty in WWII overseas. How he obtained it, or any history, or story, I'm sadly reporting that I cannot remember what he told me about the watch, other than to "appreciate it at a certain point in your life & remember me!" Which was awesome words for a teenager to reflect back upon when I found it well-stored over the years.

Surprisingly, it keeps amazingly good time! It comes attached to a string that one would think that perhaps a soldier used to hold it near & dear during combat(?); I don't even want to speculate with my uneducated opinions and/or thoughts. Although, I thought that I remembered my Grandfather saying that there was a woman involved and it was her father's watch...?

ANY thoughts or information would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm in the process of trying to translate the text on the watch, but it takes time. I've never been able to find another like it, so I don't know why or how they were distributed, if that was the case with the Russian Military.

Thanks again for any thoughts or opinions! I hope that I'm not breaking any rules here (per the guidelines). I would never think of selling it; rather, passing along the story to my nieces & nephews would be good enough for me.

    Kind regards,
    Scott

Great moving story. I've never seen one like it but I'm not into watches but others here are.

Well, whether it's reproduced out of cheap materials, made celebrated a questionable event or whatever, I've owned it for 40 years, the watch that I have is of quality and contains differences than that of the person who owns some website perhaps making fakes, and I have good memories of my Grandfather and this watch, so that's all that I need to pass down!

Scott, By no means compare your watch to the reproduction. Use it to translate the text on the watch. It has a remarkable history.

I am sorry to say this, but your watch is made long after WW II.
They date from the 1980's on forward and are made for tourists.
They come in many different varieties and with many different backs.
The Molnya movements are very good movements. I have one myself.
