This is one of several identical light fixtures in a house we are restoring. The house was finished between 1900 and 1905, and we're trying to figure out if these double wall sconces are original or if they were installed later. Have been trying to date by light socket, etc., with no luck so far. The glass shades are etched and say "Made in Germany."

Regardless of their origin, we really think they're pretty amazing. Imagine four sets of these in one 15 x 20 foot room!

Amazing for sure!!! My best guess is early 1920's. A picture of the paddle knobs on the light sockets may help narrow it down some.

Will get and post pictures on the paddle knobs -- know that some say "P & S" while others say "Paulding."

Are the sconces made of Spelter? I have had this pattern before and I believe they were made circa 1910. Lovely!

Lisa-lighting -- had to look up what "spelter" is, but yes, they definitely appear to be from that material. We actually have mine of these double sconces. I will post a picture of the house's interior.

I have been looking for an image to share with you of the piece I had that is of the same vintage, no luck so far but I will keep looking. I have seen these with curved panel slag glass shades. You are fortunate to have period lighting in the home. So often it has been taken out at some point, 50's caused many ceiling fixtures to be removed, table lamps were the rage. The latest fad or style also caused many lovely original pieces to loose their homes. :o)
