I was given a Lee Reynolds Painting (not a Poster) by my ex that was going to throw it in the trash. It is 48'x60 without frame & is signed Lee Reynolds. It looks to be Oil paint on canvas. It also has a pencil mark on the back of canvas that says it is A-6042. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the value or any other information that would help.

The A-6042 shows that it is a Vanguard piece. That means Lee Reynolds did not actually paint it. He allowed his students to use his name on paintings as a way of promoting his name. Real Lee Reynolds paintings include his last name "Burr".
Dizzydave is right on.
Thank you for your help. Does that mean that it is not of much value since his student painted it?? I only ask because I have found a few on ebay not signed Burr that are starting in the $300 range as high as $1200.
Did you notice the ones at 75.00, 95.00, 300.00, 1200.00 not one of those has a bid or a buy it now sale. Thats because everyonen on ebay that I see is all by the Vanguard Studios Students. Lee would sign his own paintings Lee Reynolds Burr or Lee Burr. There are a few paintings he signed very early in his career 1960-61 Lee Reynolds but very few. Here is some info on Lee. Dave
Lee Reynolds is another FAB example of the 60s trend of art for the masses. Artist Lee Reynolds Burr founded Vanguard Studios in 1964. Like C. Jeré and
Vanguard Studios produced more painted canvases bearing one signature, Lee Reynolds, than any artist in history, but none of the artworks for sale were actually painted by Lee Reynolds Burr.
Artisan House, Vanguard Studios employed numerous artists to duplicate original paintings. Backgrounds were often done in acrylics and then line-work was silkscreened from the master copy. (This silkscreening technique was also used by Andy Warhol’s The Factory.) Details were then added to the screened lines to create a raised effect. The finished product was then sprayed with an oil sealer, thus creating an original oil painting. Paintings were signed Lee Reynolds. Vanguard Studios also used other signatures including Reynolds, Stuart and Van Gaard.
While looking up much of the same info in reguards to owning a Reynolds painting, or so i thought as well, i looked on the backside of the print to find '506myo'...can anyone tell me what this may mean? Thanks

She told me she purchased it in the early 70s at an art shop on the Plaza in Kansas City Mo.for $500.00. I would like to know the value if possible.

I have a very large, appears to be oil on canvas, signed Lee Reynolds. On the back it is listed as 1967 Vangard Studios. Would this be one that the students did..and if so, what would be a realistic price to ask for it? Thank you for your thoughts.

I have a 4' x 5' Lee Reynolds of a Venice Itally scene, real pretty painting, nice complementory colors, hues, sky, clouds, buildings, bridge and a small boat, no people, just a really nice large painting I use to cover an ugly window on the side of my house inside. The painting in a golden thin frame really is a nice piece, but not a Bur, owell. At least I know about what price to ask, I can see how someone would maybe pay more for a painting like this that maybe it's worth. Thanks for all the great information. : )
Hi, I have a very large Lee Reynolds painting just like many others it seems. I'm a little disappointed that he allowed others to use his name as a way of getting his name out there. I wonder if there is a way to find out who actually painted these pieces. My painting is abstract with a painted mat (grey in color), colors are black, dark grey, red, white, with white drops of paint in various places. There is no stamp on reverse side however in black marker there is a number #133143. Also, in black marker 3143J. And written in blue ink is the following numbers 526 4-444-0935-133143. I purchased this at a thrift store just yesterday because I had done a search of the painters name on eBay... and only now realizing the amounts may be far off from the actual value.
I came across a Lee Burr charcoal drawing that is signed in pencil. It is of an old man hanging out of a window smoking a cigarette. I have searched and search and cannot find any info on this piece. It is definitely charcoal and not a lithograph. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
I have a large framed painting signed Lee Reynolds on the lower left hand corner. There are three white/peach colored open flowers and one unopened bud that branch into the canvas from the upper left corner. There is a number 153835 stamped on the back of the frame. I have no intention of selling it, I paid nothing for it to begin with. It was discarded by a consignment shop in Dilworth, MN and I could not resist it. Even if it has no monetary value, I'd like to know more about it's origin.
I have a abstract oil painting by Lee Reynolds, of about 10 horses. The colors are Blue, Rose, Yellow, White, Gold, Tan & Brown, with 3 mountian types in the background. The picture measures as follows width is 50" by40" high.
