I'm not really sure what this lock was for. It was made by Ames sword company, patent September 19, 1882. What are your thoughts on this piece.

Jono, I was hoping to get an uninterrupted nites sleep! Ames even made bronze cannons. Don't know what all they made but guess I can now include locks. Why would anybody lock a sword? "Sorry, I didn't know it was loaded!". They were diversified so it doesn't have to be military. Maybe they thought "sword co." made it sound better for their market? Without research, I think this comes down to "what do you want to hear".

I had a brass lock before that said AMMUNITION & had the ordnance seal stamped on.
