Manikin
(454 items)

This is a original Photo and signed by Margit Nilsen on back in ink of Mannequin on Mantel in prior Photo of her in front of her portrait photo . Circa 1940 a 30 inch mannequin dressed and designed by Margit Nilsen . It was used to advertise perfume . This photo belonged to her and was in her estate and I acquired it from family . Her studio burned and many items were lost in the fire , I have a letter she wrote to her sister referring to fire . These were in her home and saved from fire . Photo is fragile and kept in acid free binder among my other documents of her's . This gives you a look at how important these counter top mannequins were in advertising in stores and took up very ittle space . many little girls fell in love with them and wanted one so Margit did make a few dolls for girls one being Deb-U-Doll and 3 others in her family . They did not hold up well and most are found broke and melted area's . She sold clothes for them under her name at a few stores FAO Schwartz was one that carried the doll. I have a few posted of them back aways in posts .

You're lucky to own such great artifacts from her personal collection!

I feel lucky to have these pieces of history as they were very important to the times during WWII as material was not very abundant as the war needed it . So these girls filled that void by being small versions of women and much more noticed than large mannequins as they were so special and deserve being acknowledged for both the artful sculpting and their contribution to war effort . Thank you for the love Bro ! xoxo

    You're welcome Sis xo
You would be able to stand at the counter & marvel at all the details.
Many young people don't realize the extent that rationing had on the general population during the war years.

Lanvin My Sin (Mon Peche) was created back in 1924 by a mysterious Russian lady called “Madame Zed”, who worked on several more Lanvin fragrances
