Full set of flatware including service utensils. The part that goes in the mouth is silver or silver-plated (not sure) and the handles are made of black wood crafted in the shape of a peacock (as per pictures).

I received this from my uncle 15 years ago. From what I understand, it was hand made in Jezzine, Lebanon at least 50 years ago.

Is it considered an antique? How much it is worth? Do they still make those? Any information is welcome.

The flatware comes in its original box. It's in excellent condition, though the silverware could need a good polish. I have not polished, cleaned or used the silverware since I have received it.

      Hello fouadk,

      Thank you for your comment.

      How do you polish this?

Unfortunately, no, I'm not from Jezzine.

      Thank you

Hello Pavo, did you find out anymore information on the Jezzine ware, and what it so worth? I just recently had a set just like yours given to me. I need to also clean it up, has some tarnish on it.

hello guys, i have got all your answers, i am from jezzine and i am a member of the family who makes those sets. Visit the site http://haddadcutlery.com/. You can clean them with brass and a white old t-shirt. I believe your shirt( if it's made from my family< because there are plenty of copies in the village) it's pure silver and the bird it's made of horn. There are no woodmade sets from El Haddad family. For any questions you wanna ask do not hezitate.

I know of this beautiful set of silverware - my great aunt sent it with my cousin and it was used at his 82nd birthday celebration in 1967.

Thank you @tamaroon. I still don’t know what to do with it. It’s very beautiful but we don’t do the same hosting that our grand-parents or great uncles did way back. Today, all very informal.

Dear @holdurbreathe, I really appreciate the details you have provided. It validates and completes the information that has been transmitted to me by my family. I am pretty sure it’s an original (not a copy) as my uncle only collected valuable and unique items throughout his life. Thanks again.
