LET ME SAY I'M LUCKY. I THOUGHT I HAD BID UP TO $100 ON THIS. I DID'NT. I HAD PRESSED A FEW MORE CEROES! SO I COULD NOT BELIEVE I HAD WON IT, UNTIL I REALIZED WHY. LUCKILY, I HAD ENOUGH PLASTIC TO PAY.
You are bidding on an original J.C. Leyendecker illustrated Kuppenheimer Good Clothes Styles for Fall and Winter 1920-21 booklet. There are great JCL paintings in this item, including some I've never seen. Instead of advertising a specific product line, this brochure promotes a lifestyle for the Kuppenheimer active man. The 2-panel images are compelling, including the front and back cover combination. The 14-page booklet is all Leyendecker, with the exception of several by Frederic Mizen (1888-1964). It measures 8.5 x 6.75", the pages are loose - the glue that held them together has long since disappeared. Otherwise, very nice shape with minor handling wear. I've included most of the images, but not all.
1. THE COVER FRONT AND BACK.
2. YOUNG MEN AT WINTER PLAY.
3. A RELAXED, AT HOME SCENE.
4. MORE FOOTBALL.
AND NO. I AM NO FAN AT ALL OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL. BUT I WANT YOU TO NOTICE THE USE OF THE DOUBLE PAGE FORMAT, WHICH WAS A FAVORITE WITH LEYENDECKER, ALMOST AS STORY TELLING.
