An old empty thick lensing glass dome 4 inch tall snow globe with a dark Bakelite plastic base. I would guess from the style it is from the 30s or 40s. A figural cottage and tree scene inside appears to be made of porcelain.

Nice old piece from my area :-) I am trying to figure ot what it represents at Dells . There are lots of rock bluffs and mostly Indian souvenirs were sold there . The layers remind me of the rocky bluffs like a house built into them ?

Theses were always fun as kids in the 50's. Does it still have the liquid?

Bakelite is a synthetic plastic and the base is Bakelite. The same material used in many portable radio cabinets , electrical and telephone molded components of the period. There is no fluid in the dome on this globe.
