Hi guys :) hope you had a nice New Years n that your heads isn't still hurting.
I'm hoping someone can help with some rugs I found.
I've baged them and froze them for 48 hrs so they are free from bugs but they are pretty dirty and need a good clean, I'm not sure what the best way to clean them with out damageing them, could I take them to the dry cleaners ?
I don't know anything about them, if anyone could tell me anything about them that would be great. Thanks

Very unique symbols on this rug, love it!
I know how to get a rug dirty, but know nothing in regards to cleaning them:-)

Wow, interesting. I'd almost think Native American.

By the symbols but doesn't match up at all. Nor style etc.

I think it's Moroccan, (I thought Native American at first also)!

Thanks walksoftly I was thinking they are unusual symbols for a rug.
I think it's from somewhere inthe Far East ,I don't think it's Native American.

Very nice ! I worked in a museum and this is not a do it your self project . You need a textile expert . Contact our museum and see if there is one in your area . Do not handle it with bare hands wear while cloth gloves , The chance of colors running because old dye used is not steadfast so don't get it wet . How big is it ?

Thanks hunter :) I've seen some like it in a search on Moroccan but I've not seen anything as good as this, shame it's in such a dirty state.

Hi ...I am from a family of rug and textile collectors ...not dealers. Hoarders might be the best description! 1st guess: I dont think they are are from the same place. The tan piece is the toughest to place and I havent a clue really. The last is very like Greek Kilim or Balkan which Greece is part of depending on where you are in Greece...say Macedonia. Where did you find them and did anyone tell you anything? Morocco for 1 is as likely a place as any other...Simultaneous Cultural Evolution as me ole Ma used to say. Most symbols and patterns are indeed Universal.
I guess i have raised more questions than answered any, except for the red striped one ...which I would bet is Balkan ..unless its Tunisian. They are great! P&P

Thanks for your info parrotandpitbull, I've got them of the dump I work at so I've got no info on them. I was just wondering if they was worth getting them cleaned at a specialists. Thanks again
