I had a chance to buy this set of three really cool matching Texaco porcelain signs. Don't know what era - maybe someone else does. But looking at the photo again there's something great about the set, esp the piece that says "Agent, The Texas Company." I believe in the early days Texaco was one of the first independents (not part of Rockefeller's Standard Oil trust). Read "The Prize" for more on this - great book.

I have a special place in my heart for Texaco as my grandfather spent his life working for them. I have found a 4" x 6" royal blue sign that says
    NOTICE
    NO ONE OTHER THAN AN
    EMPLOYEE OF THE TEXAS
    COMPANY IN THE REGULAR
    COURSE OF HIS BUSINESS
    IS PERMITTED TO RIDE ON
    THIS VEHICLE AND NO DRIVER
    OR AGENT HAS THE AUTHORITY
    TO MODIFY THIS RULE.
    THE TEXAS COMPANY

If you are interested please write back.
    Thank you, Joan

Original porcelain Fire Chief signs are definitely '50s or '60s, and the best way to tell if they are original is the back of the sign. These do appear to be original, and I would value the Fire Chief signs, in this condition, at around $125 for the big one and $80-$100 for the smaller curved sign. The "Agent" sign I would estimate the value at around $100, but I havent seen one just like this before.

That is a really nice set! I have a Diesel Chief sign from 1953 and a Fire Chief sign like in your picture dated 1965.
