In the early eighties I saw jazz great Louie Bellson perform in a club. Between sets I had a chance to talk to him, and told him I was a drummer. I asked if I could possibly have the set of sticks that he used during his performance. Without hesitation he walked a few feet to his Slingerland drum set and gave me the sticks that he had just used. What a super guy. After the show he then signed the photo for me. Unfortunately he passed away several years ago.
